The National Security Guard (NSG) of India has named Nalin Prabhat, a senior IPS officer, as its Director General. The NSG is in charge of counterterrorism and counterhijack operations. He is an Andhra Pradesh cadre from the 1992 IPS batch and is currently serving as Jammu and Kashmir's Additional Director General of the CRPF. Elected by the Cabinet's Appointments Committee, he takes over for Daljit Singh Chaudhary, who was also in charge of the NSG, until August 31, 2028.
