The 20 cm-tiny, critically endangered Bugun Liocichla bird is protected in Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary thanks to a generous donation of land made by the Arunachal Bugun Tribe. Its plumage is olive-grey with a black cap. Astrophysicist Ramana Athreya found this species only at Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary in 2006. Severe endangerment has been experienced by the 14 birds that have been sighted in Braiduah village, India's first bird discovery since independence.
