After successfully relocating deer from Cuttack, the Odisha government intends to introduce bison, or gaur, and sambar, to the Chandaka-Dampara wildlife sanctuary. It is situated in the Khurda district and denotes the Eastern Ghats' northeastern border. The area was declared a sanctuary in 1982 and is home to a variety of birds and other endangered species. The sanctuary has three distinct seasons: summer, rainy, and winter due to its tropical climate. Dhaman, Bankapasia, Jamu, Gandhana, Kansa, Kusum, Marua, Sidha, Karanja, and thorny bamboo are among the varied plant species. Elephants, Chital, Barking Deer, Wild Boar, Rhesus Monkey, Pangolin, Sloth Bear, Indian Wolf, Hyena, and other mammals make up the sanctuary's fauna.
