The 25th Director General of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has been named as DG Rakesh Pal, a graduate of the Indian Naval Academy. In January 1989, he enlisted in the Indian Coast Guard. Rakesh Pal is credited with being the Indian Coast Guard's (ICG) first gunner. Additionally, he received the President Tatrakshak Medal (PTM) for his outstanding service in 2018 and the Tatrakshak Medal (TM) for his distinguished service in 2013.
