The Delhi-based non-profit Center for Science and Environment (CSE) recently announced the formation of the Coalition of Coastal Cities to Combat Marine Litter. A group of coastal cities will work together to fight marine litter pollution throughout India. Nearly 353 million tonnes (MT) of the 460 million MT of plastic produced globally are returned as waste, of which 8 MT (2.26%) leak into the marine environment.
