Lake Ohrid is a body of water that divides eastern Albania from the southwestern region of North Macedonia. One of the oldest and deepest lakes in all of Europe. One of the earliest sedentary communities in Europe may have been discovered by scientists. The stilted houses may be the oldest lakeside settlement ever discovered in Europe, dating back 8,000 years. The site's radiocarbon dating places it between 6000 and 5800 BC.
