An Indian-built river cruise ship is called the MV Ganga Vilas. In January 2023, the Prime Minister declared it open. In addition, Ganga Vilas is the world's longest motor vessel of its kind. Being the first cruise ship built in India, it is also noteworthy. A mere 39 days after departing from Varanasi, the vessel is headed towards setting a world record for the longest sailing across multiple river systems when it arrived in Assam from Bangladesh.
