The "FAME (faster adoption and manufacturing of electric vehicles) scheme" is carried out by the Ministry of Heavy Industries. The FAME scheme, which provides financial incentives for the purchase of electric vehicles, has seen a nearly twofold increase in government funding. The FAME scheme subsidy for fiscal 2024 is estimated in the budget at Rs 5,172 crore, as opposed to the revised estimate of Rs 2,897 crore for the current fiscal year. Since the program's inception in 2020, this allocation is the highest.
