According to the New Education Policy, Farsi (Persian) is now considered one of India's nine classical languages, as disclosed by the country's External Affairs Minister. Iran's official language is Farsi, a vital language of the Indo-European family. Furthermore, Tajik and Dari are official languages in Tajikistan and Afghanistan, respectively. Currently, India has six classical languages: Malayalam, Tamil, Sanskrit, Kannada, Telugu, and Odia. In addition to these classical languages, Pali, Persian, and Prakrit also have literary works that should be preserved for the benefit of future generations and their own enjoyment, as stated in the National Education Policy-2020.
