The swine fever vaccine technology was transferred to BioMed Pvt. Ltd. by the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. The vaccine targets the classical swine fever virus, which is common in northeastern regions, states like Kerala, and Bihar. The vaccine, which was created using a recombinant vector, is not contagious to people. Its creation was made possible by the reverse genetic platform at IIT Guwahati. By working together, we hope to close a major vaccine technology gap in India and protect pig populations in impacted areas.
