The ongoing difficulties Indian youth face in obtaining employment are highlighted in the India Employment Report 2024, which was co-published by the ILO and IHD. Remarkably, young people make up 83% of the unemployed. What is especially concerning is the increase in educated youth among the unemployed; those with a secondary education or above now make up 65.7% of the youth without jobs, compared to 35.2% in 2000. This pattern suggests that initiatives to address youth unemployment and skill development are urgently needed.
