India has chosen not to ratify a global commitment to renewable energy that was announced during the COP28 climate conference in Dubai. By 2030, 118 countries have committed to tripling the amount of installed renewable energy capacity worldwide. However, China, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran, and India all chose not to participate. India is still dedicated to meeting its own national renewable energy targets, but it was unable to accept the conditions of this particular pledge, which might have harmed development objectives. By 2030, India wants to have installed 50% of its electricity capacity from non-fossil fuels.
