The Namdapha flying squirrel (Biswamoyopterus biswasi) has been found again in Arunachal Pradesh, after a 42-year hiatus. All of Arunachal Pradesh is home to it. The species was believed to be extinct or confused with a closely related species when it was last documented in 1981. It is included in Schedule II of the Wildlife Protection Act and is categorized by the IUCN as Critically Endangered. It was one of the 25 "most wanted lost" species that the "Search for Lost Species" campaign by Global Wildlife Conservation was aiming to find.
