To aid Kerala's efforts to combat the Nipah virus outbreak, the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has given the state permission to conduct Truenat tests in a few hospitals. Portable, intelligent chip-based, battery-operated RT-PCR kits are used in Truenat tests. Truenat test facilities will only be accessible to hospitals with level 2 biosafety facilities, which follow stringent protocols to prevent sample contamination.
