As part of a series of climate observatories to improve climate services, ISRO and IMD are working together to develop a new meteorological satellite. It will be launched by the Geosynchronous Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F14), along with INSAT-3D and INSAT-3DR. The satellite offers enhanced features such as enhanced spatial resolution, precise estimation of sea surface temperature, and night vision capabilities. A multispectral imager, a 19-channel sounder, a data relay transponder, and a search and rescue transponder are among its payloads.
