Six forest officials were suspended for failing to stop the smuggling of teak in the northeastern Telangana region's Kawal Tiger Reserve. It is located at the southernmost point of the Central Indian Tiger Landscape and features a variety of habitats, such as dense forests and bodies of water. It was designated as a Tiger Reserve in 2012. With 673 different plant species, the reserve's rich flora—which includes extensive teak and bamboo—is essential to the Godavari and Kadam rivers' catchment.
