The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to receive Astra Missiles developed domestically at Bharat Dynamics in Hyderabad, thanks to a recent initiative by the Minister of State for Defense. Modern beyond-visual-range (BVR) air-to-air missile Astra is produced by Bharat Dynamics Ltd. (BDL) and designed by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). When combined with SU-30 Mk-I aircraft, the ASTRA Mk-I can reach a range of 80 to 110 km at a speed of 4.5 Mach. It also has a 15-kg warhead and a locally developed Ku-band active radar guidance system.
