To hasten the internationalization of the rupee, the Reserve Bank recently formed a working group under the direction of Radha Shyam Ratho, RBI Executive Director. In its report, the working group made a number of recommendations, including updating the legislation governing foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) and including the rupee in the Special Drawing Rights (SDR) basket.
