Kerala India's first supercapacitor manufacturing plant was opened by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Keltron, Kannur, Kerala. With ISRO's assistance and an initial expenditure of Rs 42 crore, the plant was created. It will help industries like electric automobiles and defence by boosting Kerala's electronics sector. In order to achieve international requirements, the factory hopes to create 2,000 supercapacitors every day. With a Rs 395 crore master plan in place, CM Vijayan announced an extra Rs 1,000 crore investment to modernise Keltron and other electronics companies. Making Kerala a centre for the production of electronics is the aim.
