The 1988 batch senior IAS officer Radha Raturi has been named Uttarakhand's first female chief secretary. She is the first woman to hold this important administrative position in the state, taking over for Sukhbir Singh Sandhu. Raturi has a long history in administration, having worked in both Uttarakhand and undivided Uttar Pradesh. She joined the IAS after initially wanting to be a journalist and passing the UPSC exam on her third try.
