Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay voiced his strong support for India's application for a permanent seat in a revamped UN Security Council during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. He underlined that India deserved this status because of its notable economic progress and leadership in the Global South. In order to reflect contemporary global realities, Bhutan, which recently emerged from the Least Developed Countries (LDC) category, emphasized the need for a more functional and representative Security Council.
