Australia will hold a historic national referendum in October to include recognition of the Indigenous population in the constitution. On October 14, more than 17 million registered voters will cast ballots to decide whether to amend the Constitution to create a new advisory body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. If successful, the historic "Voice to Parliament" referendum would see the inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the nation's constitution.
