Which nation has received the first-ever crude oil payment from India in local currency?

India has paid the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in local currency for the first time ever to settle a crude oil payment, in an effort to increase bilateral trade and lessen reliance on the US dollar. The deal was made possible by the "local currency settlement" (LCS) system between the Indian Oil Corporation and the state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. The transaction is the second to take place under the LCS. The first transaction took place in July and involved a leading UAE gold exporter selling 25 kg of gold to a buyer in India.
