48 migrants are missing after their boat capsized close to Spain's Canary Islands, and rescue crews are looking for them. The Atlantic Ocean archipelago known as the Canary Islands is located roughly 115 kilometres west of Morocco and 1300 kilometres south of the Spanish peninsula. They are made up of the Spanish provinces of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas. The islands feature rich volcanic soil because they were formed by volcanic eruptions millions of years ago. Warm temperatures and minimal seasonal fluctuation characterise the subtropical environment. A collection of islands created by tectonic movements, volcanic activity, or sediment buildup is referred to as an archipelago.
