In honor of India's 75th anniversary of independence, the Sangeet Natak Akademi announced special one-time awards for 84 artists who are over 75 and have never before received a national honor. Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar gave out the "Amrit" awards to 84 artists in total, including 70 men and 14 women.
