The Ministry of Power's Maharatna PSU, REC Limited, marked a significant milestone when it issued its first set of green bonds worth JPY 61.1 billion. It is the first time an Indian PSU has issued Yen Green Bonds, and it is REC's eleventh foray into the global bond market. The bonds were issued at yields of 1.76%, 1.79%, and 2.20%, respectively, with maturities of 5, 5.25, and 10 years. India's largest Yen-denominated issuance to date is this Euro-Yen offering, which is the largest in South and Southeast Asia. The bonds attracted a lot of interest from around the world, with a large amount going overseas. They will only be listed on the India INX and the GIFT City, Gujarat, NSE IFSC.
