Nitin Gadkari, the minister of state for highways and road transport, declared that all government-owned vehicles older than 15 years will be scrapped beginning on April 1. As part of this, more than nine lakh vehicles owned by the federal and state governments, transportation companies, and public sector organizations will be replaced with new vehicles using alternative fuels.
