What is the purpose of the Panchayati Raj Ministry's PDI expansion?

The Ministry has published a report on the Panchayat Development Index (PDI) in order to evaluate and quantify the progress made by Grassroots level Institutions in achieving Localized SDGs and thereby attaining SDG 2030. When it comes to measuring progress and evaluating performance, the Panchayat Development Index is crucial to reaching the LSDGs in rural areas. In order to foster healthy competition among Panchayats, the Ministry has been rewarding the highest-performing Panchayats under the redesigned RGSA with National Panchayats Awards (NPAs), which are based on how well they have accomplished the SDGs.
