Two 1,300–1,500 year old Badami Chalukya temples and a 1,200 year old label inscription were found in Mudimanikyam village, Telangana, close to the Krishna River. The Chalukyas, who included the Western and Eastern Chalukya sibling dynasties and the Badami Chalukyas, ruled the Deccan from the sixth to the twelfth centuries. In 550, Pulakesi I established the dynasty, with Badami serving as its capital. After defeating Harsha and Vishnukundins, Pulakesi II extended the empire, but Pallava Narasimhavarman eventually took Vatapi from him.
