Scientists discovered the massive Northern Green Anaconda, the largest anaconda in the world, in the Amazon rainforest in February 2024. During a National Geographic expedition, TV wildlife presenter Professor Freek Vonk found this hitherto unidentified snake. It weighs 200 kg, has a head the size of a human, and is 26 feet long. The snake, which starred with Will Smith in National Geographic's Disney+ series "Pole to Pole," has been officially named "Eunectes akayima" by scientists, confirming its position as the biggest and heaviest snake on Earth.
