The British dementia research team has chosen Dr. Ashvini Keshavan, an Indian-origin neurologist and Senior Clinical Research and Honorary Consultant Neurologist Fellow at University College London (UCL). The ADAPT team (Alzheimer's disease Diagnosis and Plasma pTau217) will concentrate on the biomarker p-tau217, which measures the concentrations of tau and amyloid, two proteins linked to Alzheimer's disease in the brain. In order to determine whether measuring p-tau217 in the blood can improve the diagnosis rate of Alzheimer's disease in individuals with early dementia and mild, progressive memory issues, the team will carry out a clinical trial.
