On March 1, 2024, PM Modi dedicated the HURL Sindri Fertilizer Plant in Jharkhand, addressing the urea demand in India. Although the country produced only 225 lakh metric tons in 2014, it still needs 360 lakh metric tons annually. Over the past ten years, production has increased to 310 lakh metric tons thanks to government efforts. Modi unveiled plans to bring back more plants by 2025, including the Talcher Fertilizer Plant, guaranteeing farmers access to inexpensive fertilizers and creating job opportunities for local youth.
