The Jharkhand Cabinet last week approved the 'Abua Awas Yojna' (AAY), a housing scheme for the impoverished that has a total budget of Rs 16,320 crore and will give eight lakhs pucca houses to the state's homeless population. With a goal of building 2 lakh homes in the current fiscal year, 3.5 lakh homes in FY 2024–2025, and 2.5 lakh homes in FY 2025–2026, the scheme will be implemented in three phases.
