Aurangzeb constructed the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi in 1669. A Varanasi court recently ordered the Archaeological Survey of India to carry out a "scientific investigation/survey/excavation" of the Gyanvapi mosque grounds. They were tasked by the court to determine whether the present building was erected over an earlier Hindu temple.
