Recently, the Gujarati wetland of Dharoi hosted the second iteration of the two-day Bird Survey Dharoi 2023. The wetland in north Gujarat covers an area of 107 square kilometers. The Sabarmati and Harnoi rivers were dammed in 1978 as part of a significant irrigation project to create the Dharoi reservoir. 193 species out of the 616 found in Gujarat were recorded in the first Dharoi Bird Survey in 2022.
