Relief and rescue operations were conducted to safely extract the 40 trapped workers from the under-construction Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarakhand. In the state's Uttarkashi district, the tunnel that was being built between Silkyara and Dandalgaon on the Brahmakhal-Yamunotri National Highway collapsed. Part of the Rs 12000 crore Char Dham all-weather road project is the tunnel.
