What is the name of the initiative to encourage cruise tourism in India that was started by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways?

The Cruise Bharat Mission was introduced by Union Minister Sarabanand Sonowal in Mumbai, Maharashtra, on September 30, 2024. The purpose is to establish India as a leading cruise destination and a global centre for cruise tourism. The mission will be carried out by the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways with assistance from a number of regulatory organisations. The Indian Ports Association will establish a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the development of cruise ships. The mission will operate in three phases from October 1, 2024, to March 31, 2029.
