The Center has started the emergency process of blocking 94 Chinese loan-lending apps and 138 betting apps. Blocking orders have been issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in response to an emergency request made by the Ministry of Home Affairs' Nodal officer. After it was established that these apps included content that violated Section 69 of the IT Act and was detrimental to Indian sovereignty, action was taken.
