The Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir's Challa village will soon host India's first-ever lavender farm. The Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare owns the two hectares of land on which it is situated. Lavender is a native of Europe. In 2018, as part of the CSIR-Aroma Mission, the Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) introduced it to the temperate regions of the Jammu division. This led to the birth of India's purple revolution in Doda.
