In accordance with a Department of Commerce recommendation, IIT Madras will receive a grant of Rs 242 Crore to be used over five years for lab-grown diamond research. The Union Finance Minister stated in the Union Budget 2023 that Lab Grown Diamonds is an emerging industry driven by technology and innovation with significant job potential.
