By including protection works for retaining walls and channelization of Nullahs under the "Vidhayak Ksetra Vikas Nidhi Yojana" (VKVNY) during the fiscal year 2023–2024, the Himachal Pradesh government has loosened its requirements. According to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, this decision was made in light of the significant losses in human lives as well as in public and private property during recent heavy rains in the State.
