The position of Presiding Officer of the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) has been filled by Dinesh Kumar, a former Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court. Justice Tarun Aggarwal's retirement in December 2023 left a 4-month vacancy. In order to expedite the appeals process outside of High Courts, SAT, an independent body established by the SEBI Act, 1992, hears appeals against orders from financial regulators such as SEBI, PFRDA, and IRDAI.
