The first phase of the Barsana BioGas plant in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, has been put into operation by Adani Total Energies Biomass Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL). With a total capacity of 600 tonnes per day, the project, which will be developed in three phases, will produce 217 tonnes of organic fertilizer and 42 tonnes of compressed biogas per day. At a cost of more than ?200 crore, it is expected to be the largest agri-waste based bio-CNG plant in India. It will use cutting-edge anaerobic digestion technology for sustainability and to lower greenhouse gas emissions.
