At Kumar Post in the Siachen Glacier, Captain Shiva Chouhan, an officer in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers, was the first female officer to be operationally deployed. The late Colonel Narinder Kumar, who played a key role in the Indian Army's 1984 launch of "Operation Meghdoot" and successful seizure of the Siachen Glacier, is honored by having his post named after him.
