A 35-year-old female elephant was found dead at Mavathuru in the Bailuru wildlife range of Biligiri Ranganathaswamy Temple Tiger Reserve (BRT), Hanur taluk. BRT, located in Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district, bridges the Western and Eastern Ghats. Named after the white rocky cliff with a temple of Lord Vishnu, it became a tiger reserve in 2011, covering 574.82 sq.km. The forest includes diverse vegetation types.
