An investigation into the connection between migraines and the onset of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) was published in Scientific Reports recently. IBD includes mild to severe chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Two types are Crohn's disease, which is characterized by inflammation in the digestive tract, usually in the small intestine, and ulcerative colitis, which affects the colon and rectum. Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis characteristics are combined in indeterminate colitis (IBD), which can have potentially fatal consequences for certain people.
