Hindustan Aeronautics, an Indian public sector aerospace and defense manufacturer, plans to take orders for up to 24 Light Combat Aircraft over the course of the next three years. Currently, the company can build eight aircraft annually. In 2016, the Indian Air Force received its first Tejas LCA aircraft. With LCA Tejas, two IAF squadrons—45 Squadron and 18 Squadron—are currently fully operational. HAL has received an order for 83 LCA Mk 1A aircraft valued at Rs 36,468 crore; delivery is expected to start in February 2024.
