Scientists are shocked by the sudden eruption of gold particles from Mount Erebus, the second-largest volcano in Antarctica. The volcano normally spews out rocks, steam, and fumes, but now it's also releasing small crystallised gold particles. These particles, which are estimated to be worth about $6,000 (Rs 5 lakh), were discovered 621 kilometres from the volcano. According to NASA experts, the gold particles were carried to the surface by molten rock and crystallised in the frigid temperatures of Antarctica. Mount Erebus is unique in that it produces solid gold particles that are carried by the wind, whereas other volcanoes create gold in the form of gas or liquid.
