In order to boost the performance of blocks that are falling behind on development metrics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the Aspirational Block Programme (ABP) of the government. Similar to the Aspirational District Program, which was introduced in 2018 and has 112 districts nationwide, the Aspirational Blocks Program focuses on community aspirations. At first, 500 districts spread across 31 states and Union Territories will be covered by the new program.
