With its recent extension until 2024, who is the chair of the 22nd Law Commission?

The 22nd Law Commission's mandate has been extended by the Union Cabinet to August 31, 2024. Rituraj Awasthi, a former chief justice of the Karnataka High Court, serves as the commission's chair. The Commission is in charge of locating and eliminating out-of-date legislation, assessing current legislation, and suggesting amendments that are required. Additionally, it will eliminate contradictions and streamline Central Acts. Important matters like holding simultaneous elections and implementing a Uniform Civil Code are also being looked into by the Commission.
